Easy, no-yeast naan bread made with Greek yogurt, cooked on the stovetop until tender and puffy, then brushed with garlic butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt to the bowl.
  3. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough gently for 1-2 minutes until it comes together into a smooth ball.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface.
  6. Transfer the dough from the bowl to the floured surface.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
  8. Working with one piece, gently stretch and shape it into a thin rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick and 5-6 inches long.
  9. Heat a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat for about 2 minutes until hot.
  10. Place one shaped piece of dough onto the dry pan.
  11. Cook for 3 minutes without moving it, until bubbles form and the bottom has light golden-brown spots.
  12. Flip the naan.
  13. Cook for another 2 minutes until the second side also browns.
  14. Remove the cooked naan from the pan.
  15. While still warm, brush each piece generously with melted butter on both sides.
  16. Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over the buttered naan.
  17. Stack the finished naan on a clean kitchen towel or plate to keep warm.
  18. Repeat with the remaining dough pieces, cooking in batches.

Notes

Use full-fat Greek yogurt for the best texture.
Do not overwork the dough; just knead until it comes together.
Ensure your pan is hot enough before adding the naan for proper puffing.
Brush with butter and garlic powder immediately after cooking for maximum flavor.
