A creamy, cheesy, and comforting baked pasta dish featuring tender crab meat and a delicious blend of spices, perfect for any occasion.

  • 16 oz pasta
  • 16 oz crab meat (lump style preferred)
  • 14 oz sour cream
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 tsp oregano
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 4 oz Swiss cheese (grated fresh)
  • 4 oz cheddar (grated fresh)
  • green onion

Instructions

  1. Dice the onion and bell pepper into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Grate the Swiss cheese and cheddar cheese fresh.
  3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  4. Add the pasta to the boiling water.
  5. Cook pasta according to package directions until just al dente.
  6. Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
  7. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  8. Add the diced onions and bell peppers to the skillet.
  9. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  10. Stir in the oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  11. Cook for another 30 seconds until the spices are fragrant.
  12. In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the sautéed vegetables and butter/spices.
  13. Add the crab meat gently to the bowl.
  14. Pour in the sour cream.
  15. Fold everything together gently but thoroughly until creamy and evenly combined.
  16. Transfer the pasta and crab mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  17. Spread the mixture out evenly.
  18. Top with the grated cheese blend, distributing in an even layer.
  19. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.
  20. Bake until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown at the edges.
  21. Remove the dish from the oven.
  22. Let it rest for 2-3 minutes.
  23. Top with fresh green onions.
  24. Serve immediately while hot and bubbly.

Notes

Grating your own cheese ensures a smoother melt.
Cook pasta just until al dente to prevent mushiness in the oven.
Fold the crab meat gently to keep the lumps intact.
Allow the baked pasta to rest for a few minutes before serving for best texture.
